Death Note Episode 12 'Love'
Intrigue, espionage, magic, murder and now love. The newly introduced imposter Kira tries to make contact with the real Kira. 'L' now has two mass murderers to capture. Light is worried that the imposter will reveal too much and expose him and now we learn that the Death Gods have a weakness and can be killed.
'L' suspects that the new imposter Kira sympathizes with the real Kira and hatches a plan to make contact. Still suspecting Light, he invites him to join the police taskforce. 'L' sets a trap hoping to expose Light as the killer, but it fails. Light deduces that the imposter Kira has similar powers, but is even more powerful because they don't need a name to kill.
'L' and Light work together to lure the imposter out into the open by sending their message with Light, ironically, playing the part of Kira. The message says that Kira will be lenient on the imposter as long as he abides by his rules of not killing the innocent. The imposter assures Kira that he will abide by the rules and states that he knows that Kira does not have 'the eyes' of the Death God. The imposter states that when they meet they will reveal their Death Gods to each other to verify their identities. Light decides that the imposter is now a liability. 'L' comes to the conclusion that the words 'Death Gods' in the message is a code for their ability to kill and will have to demonstrate it to each other upon meeting.
We find out that the imposter Kira is a girl named Misa who has a death note that was given to her. The Death God that gave it to her tells her why the notebook is hers. A Death God named Jealous watched her and fell in love with her. He became despondent when it was her time to die. Jealous used the death note to save Misa's life by killing her attacker. When he did that, he broke the rules and gave up his own life to save hers.
'L' sits back and waits to see who will make the next move, and both Kira's are left wondering how they are going to meet each other without attracting the police and which of the two of them will survive.
