Death Note: Episode 19
In Episode 19 of Death Note, Light is still without his memories of being Kira and the investigation team is still checking out Yatsuba Corporation for their suspected involvement with Kira. L also reveals that he IS Heraldo Coil (the second greatest detective that ever lived). During a news bite, we learn that Heraldo claims to have knowledge of the identity of Kira.
In a short expose in the beginning, we see Matsuda being chastised over and over for his immature antics and general lack of serious contribution to the investigation. This foreshadows Matsuda's attempt to do something productive and prove himself to the team. Of course, being Matsuda, he bungles the job.
Matsuda is caught listening outside the door of a Yatsuba Corporation board meeting. He hears them discussing Kira just before tumbling through the door and is surely busted. Or is he? Matsuda resumes his role as Misa's manager and tells the board that he is there to try to convince them to use Misa as their company spokesperson. Misa meets this opportunity with her usual exuberance and dives right in to invite them all to a reception full of booze and sexy friends. As the Yatsuba executives enjoy Misa's company and debate how best to dispose of Masuda, L sets the stage for Matsuda to fake his own death and escape Yatsuba's clutches.
Matsuda pretends to be extremely drunk and shows them all an acrobatic trick on the edge of the balcony. While doing a hand-stand on the rail, he "slips" and is caught several floors down by L and company. They even fake the body on the street and impersonate the ambulance drivers that arrive at the scene.
With Matsuda safely home and the board members back in their office, Yatsuba plans their next move. One of the board members gets nervous and voices his wishes to get out of the organization. In the next scene, L notices an empty chair at the next board meeting. L's suspicions are confirmed about the Yatsuba Corporation.
Finally, Yatsuba is presented with a blackmail offer orchestrated by L to pay off "Heraldo Coil" and they decide to agree to his terms.
