Description of Death Note episode 35
Episode 35 of Death Note is titled "Malice". It starts with collages of different scenes of people doing various activities, such as attending a funeral and playing checkers, which are likely flashbacks to prior episodes.
This episode really begins with a couple of phone calls advising that something has been confirmed. Near then calls and wants to meet with Light, saying that is she knows the identity of Kira. She then sets forward a plan for everyone to meet up. The discussion then goes on to set up protection of the notebook and where the meeting will take place. It is then we find out that Light wants to have Near killled.
An attempt is made on Ms. Tokada's life but is unsuccessful, and the target is whisked away on a motorcycle by Melo for protection. A manhunt then resumes for the assailant. Melo then handcuffs Tokada while riding the motorcycle after leaving the other protectors behind.
The scene then switches to the assailant being surrounded by authorities. He gives up willingly but is still shot multiple times and dies a bloody death as an agent states "death is the only way to pay for crimes against Kira". We then switch back to the motorcycle which has now taken Ms. Tokada to a secret location which is inside the shell of a truck. She is told to take everything off and put it into a box by Melo, her abductor. Light reveals he has tried to contact Ms. Tokada, but has not been successful. She then is able to use her cell phone to contact Light while Melo is driving the truck in which she is now captive. They then discuss the plan they had made should she be abducted, and she advises Light she has done everything that he told her to do, and confirms she will now carry out the plan. Light and his men disburse to try and find her location. She then makes another call for a list of people to kill, and her accomplice leaves his office and sets out to meet her. In the meantime Light has plans of his own while the others sit in the front seat of the car. He flicks a switch on his wrist watch and shortly thereafter we are taken to Tokada'a location where everything has been set ablaze. We then find that Tokada has set everything on fire, including herself, and it is noted as a suicide as the episode comes to a close.
